A family staying in Umlaas Street in Carletonville went through a terrible ordeal at the start of this week.

This crime took place in the early morning hours of October 12.

The son (26) was asleep in his outside room when he was woken by someone opening his door at approximately 00:30. He got up to check what was going on and came face-to-face with two unknown armed men.

The thugs asked him who stayed in the main house, and the son answered that it was his parents. The criminals instructed him to open the back door for them, but when he did not comply, they assaulted him with a garden fork.

The thugs then broke the dining room window to get in.

The son was still outside and bleeding from his injuries when he heard several gunshots inside the house.

He went to check after the criminals had escaped, and found that both his parents as well as his aunt had been shot.
He immediately called for help.

The family members, who had respectively been shot in the stomach, shoulder, and left thigh, were rushed to Carletonville Hospital.
