Various members of Carletonville swimming club took part in the first swim of a series of events at Muldersdrift on 6 November.
A total of 23 club members competed in the Cradle Moon Lakeside Series 1 swim that was held at Muldersdrift.
This was the second qualifying race for next year’s Midmar Mile and, according to the club’s spokesperson, Annalisa Freese, the swimmers did exceptionally well, considering it was so early in the season.
Various swimmers tackled the 1 000 m swim that was held as part of the event.
They are Anke Freese (19:23 min), Annalisa Freese (22:21 min), Ben van Niekerk (21:16 min), Bianca Janeke (18:45 min), Caitlin Doran (16:48 min), Carsten Holfelder (22:49 min), Diwan Wolfaardt (20:00 min), Gerrie Jnr Grové (30:13 min), Gerrie
Snr Grové (27:05 min), Julian Rheeder (20:00 min), Kealeboga Khoza (21:15
min), Keenen Grové (24:02 min), Lianne Raper (21:17 min), Marisan Grové
(30:11 min), Melissa Raper (21:17 min), Rameez Mabanga (25:35 min), Sharlene van Niekerk (20:51 min), Tammy van Niekerk (20:24 min) and Tiaan Wolfaardt (21:52 min).
Several swimmers also competed in the 400 m fun swim.
They are Aaliyah Mabanga, Amy Strydom, Gerry Grové (Snr), Mienke Rheeder, Nelius Strydom and Rameez Mabanga.
‘The series 2 challenge will be held on 27 November. Thank you to Gerrie Grové (Snr) and all our supporters, we would not be able to do it without you,’ Freese said.
