According to Mr Willem Benadé, who buys and sells vehicles for a living, he struggled for the best part of last week to get vehicles licensed at this facility.
“I was there by about 10:00 on Wednesday to try and get help but their system was offline. One of the women wrote down some of my details and promised to enter them when the system was back online. When I returned three hours later, the security guard was sending everyone away because it was still offline. He would not even let me in to speak to the official who was helping me. By closing time at 15:00, the system was still offline.
“The problem is that one has to licence the vehicles in the municipal area where you stay,” he laments. Benadé says he has had fewer problems at the Fochville licensing department and in neighbouring towns like Randfontein, Mogale City and Potchefstroom.
“How is it that the people cannot even try and help you? They should close this office and make us all go to Randfontein,” he fumes.
The Herald asked the municipality about the issue on Tuesday.
“All transactions reflect on the eNatis system. When the system is offline, no transactions can be done for anybody,” was the municipality’s only answer.
