Resident shot while getting water

The fact that many residents of Blyvooruitzicht do not have running water inside their houses almost claimed this man's life.

An armed thug shot a Blyvooruitzicht resident when he went to fetch water over the weekend.

The 53-year-old man from Southdene Crescent left his house to fetch water at approximately 02:00 on Saturday, 6 April.

He had just finished getting water from the tank on his sidewalk when he saw two unknown men behind him.

“Keep quiet,” they ordered in Sotho.

When the resident tried to get away, one shot him in the back. An ambulance took him to the Carletonville Hospital for treatment.

The police are investigating a case of attempted murder.
