Angela Mogale booted from Generations: The Legacy

By Nandipha Pantsi

Lebogang Mthunzi is leaving Generations: The Legacy. The actress, who plays Angela Mogale on the popular soapie, was among the new actors hired by Mfundi Vundla to revamp the soapie after 16 of its cast members were fired last year after a strike.

“Generations: The Legacy has been on air for almost a year and we are at a point where we have a firm idea of where the story is leading us and which characters and families we’d like to grow with the show,” the show’s publicist Gaaratwe Mokhethi said in a statement about the actress’ exit.

Mthunzi joins a number of actors who have left the soapie since it was relaunched in December last year. Among them is Denise Zimba, Mutodi Neshehe and Vuyo Dabula. Earlier this year, Dabula, who plays one of the show’s most talked about characters, said he enjoyed the financial stability Generations: The Legacy provided, but that working conditions made it necessary for him to leave.

“Business wise, being on a soapie is great. But I’m an actor and a storyteller before I am a businessman.”

According to TV SA’s primetime TV ratings, Generations: The Legacy is still the country’s most watched soapie with more than seven million viewers every night.
