WATCH: Robert Marawa and Tbo Touch say MacG’s podcast was ‘censored’

Robert Marawa and Tbo Touch are part of 'Fired FM' and Marawa claims his 'Podcast and Chill with MacG' interview was censored by Channel O.

Robert Marawa and Thabo “Tbo Touch” Molefe allege that Tbo Touch’s interview on Podcast and Chill with MacG was “censored”.

The radio personalities are part of the “fired squad” or “fired FM“, along with DJ Fresh, DJ Sbu and Gareth Cliff because of their controversial stints on radio which led to them being fired multiple times.

Macgyver “MacG” Mukwevho hosts the most popular podcast in the country, with a limited celebrity edition now airing on DStv’s Channel O. Podcast and Chill with MacG was scheduled to release the long-awaited Tbo Touch interview on Wednesday however they couldn’t as some parts of the interview were “irretrievably lost”, a statement from the podcast said.

The podcast said they tried, by all means, to recover as much data as possible from the corrupted memory card. They made sure to make it clear that this was “no way and act of sabotage nor is it an effort to censor”.

Some people weren’t buying it and questioned how a podcast of this calibre did not have a back-up plan.

One of these people included Marawa, who said if Tbo Touch’s interview, which was eventually released on Thursday, was edited or “doctored”, then his interview was rejected by Channel O, alleging censorship.

The Citizen reached out to Channel O’s broadcaster MultiChoice for comment and is still waiting for a response.

Tbo Touch agreed with Marawa and tweeted: “I guess the Tbo Touch story will always be distorted. I will [share] the rest of the story when the time is right! Big S/O [shout out] to Mac and Sol for the recovery.”

He was, however, still promoting his episode throughout Friday and thanked MacG and Sol Phenduka for having him on.

“I now understand why this episode of #podcastandchill went through hell and back before it could be aired. There was no ways we could record this interview! NEVER.”

Update 29 October 4pm: Sol rejected Marawa’s claims on Twitter.

Tbo Touch left Metro FM after 11 years in 2017. It was widely reported that he was one of the highest paid radio hosts in the country earning about R200,000 a month.

He left the station after he got into a physical altercation with one of the show’s producers and was suspended for not playing a Hyundai advert worth millions.

The radio personality currently has his own media and radio company called Touch HD.
