Most-nominated K.O takes over the UK as Metro Awards take over his hometown

K.O is the most-nominated artist at the Metro FM awards with seven nods.

As the Metro FM Awards takeover his hometown Mbombela this weekend, rapper K.O is dominating the United Kingdom with a number of shows and appearances.

On Saturday night the rapper performs in Manchester at the Kings Weekend event which is a celebration of the best in Dancehall, Afrobeats, Hip Hop and Amapiano. As he prepares for his gig in the north west of England, his name will most likely be called out a couple of times at the Metro FM awards.

The Metro FM awards are taking place at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga. Themed ‘Black is Back’, the awards will be hosted by Lerato Kganyago and Katlego Maboe.

Most-nominated artist

K.O is the most-nominated artist with seven nods – Song of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration Song, Best Hip Hop Artist, Best Male Artist, Best Music Video and Best Viral Challenge.

But the probabilities of him walking away with all seven awards are smaller than the chances of Mzansi going through winter without Eskom’s blackouts. This is due to the sentimentality that comes with the passing of AKA, who has six nominations. Along with Sjava, AKA has the second most nominations.

K.O has been in the UK for the past few days attending to a number of shows. On Thursday he was the special guest in the Africa is Not a Country event in London, where he was interviewed by Nigerian media personality Adesope Olajide in front of an intimate audience.

On Friday night, Mr Cashtime, as he’s known to fans, performed at the open-brick designed Button Factory in Dublin, Ireland, to a receptive crowd. The event was to celebrate Africa Month. The line-up was made up of Africans in diaspora, including Malawian-Irish DJ Mona-Lxsa, but K.O was the night’s headline act.
