RIP Meat Loaf

‘Incomparable’

A statement shared on his official Facebook page read: “Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight”.

“From his heart to your souls…don’t ever stop rocking!” it added.

As per the post, his wife Deborah was by his side, and his daughters Pearl and Amanda, and his close friends were with him “throughout the last 24 hours”.

According to the statement on Facebook, the singer sold more than 100 million albums and appear in 65 movies, including Fight Club, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Wayne’s World.

Meat Loaf’s career hits

Meat Loaf rose to fame in the late 1970s, thanks to his “soaring vocal range and lavish stage productions.”

Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman produced the Bat Out Of Hell in 1972, but released it two years later. The album reportedly sold more than 43 million copies.

It is still considered one of the highest-selling albums ever – currently fourth on the list and preceded only by Michael Jackson’s Thriller, AC/DC’s Back in Black, and The Bodyguard soundtrack featuring Whitney Houston.

His 1993 hit I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That) earned him a Grammy Award.
