Molefi Ntseki’s dismissal: Even celebs sound off on the Chiefs shake-up

Celebrities who support the club expressed their dissatisfaction with how the club is run, this after Ntseki’s dismissal.

It’s always been said that Kaizer Chiefs are the most supported club in South Africa and on Monday when news of Molefi Ntseki parting ways with the club broke out, its prominent disgruntled fans, celebs included, lashed out at the Soweto team.

“Bye Bye! We cautioned from the beginning that there’s a huge different between aspirant coaches and coaches. We humbly request that you use this opportunity to look for a Coach, and not use the football club as trial grounds. Those who want trials must do it elsewhere. Please!,” averred EFF Deputy President Floyd Shivambu.

On Monday afternoon Kaizer Chiefs announced that they had reached the decision to end their relationship with the former Bafana Bafana coach.

“Following a meeting on Monday morning, Molefi Ntseki’s tenure as Head Coach of Kaizer Chiefs has ended amicably by mutual consent,” the club said in a statement on their social media.

Amakhosi have been criticised for not being open about how they reached their decision. The same happened when Ntseki was hired – there was a paucity of an explanation from Chiefs.

Unhappy Khosi fans

The firing of Ntseki has given the club’s ardent fans an opportunity to share some ideas with the club’s hierarchy.

“Kaizer Chiefs, spend the money and hire Pitso Mosimane. Once!” said Kaya FM breakfast host Sizwe Dhlomo.

Ntseki’s era at the club was short, that he should return all the club merchandise he received during his tenure, Sizwe joked that there are tracksuits of the club he hasn’t even worn.

“Era was so short, there’s a tracksuit he hasn’t even unwrapped yet.”

Former politician and member of the Democratic Alliance (DA) Mbali Ntuli spoke with relief of the coach’s dismissal but questioned the club’s strategy.
“Chiefs has been hurting us for too long. Ithini ilong term strategy kanti [what does the long term strategy say]?

South African Head of Diplomacy Clayson Monyela thanked the club for heeding to the call of fans.

Former Newzroom Afrika broadcaster and now 702 radio host Gugulethu Mhlungu also shared her disappointment, but found the disarray at the club humorous.

There were some fans who found humour in the whole issue, choosing to draw parallels between how Ntseki looks and his dismissal. Some of the X, formerly Twitter, comments were too personal to be reproduced here.
