Mpumelelo Mseleku opens up about his journey of being a polygamist

The professional soccer player discusses his journey into polygamy as he follows in his father's footsteps.

The saying “Like Father Like Son” is true for Mpumelelo Mseleku as he has decided to be a polygamist like his father.

Mpumelelo is the son of Musa Mseleku, a famous polygamist from KwaZulu-Natal who has four wives and 10 children. Musa also had his own reality show on Mzansi Magic called Uthando Nes’thembu.

Mpumelelo’s polygamous lifestyle

When he was 22 years old, Mpumelelo made the choice to enter into relationships with two girlfriends with the intention of starting families.

He is currently in a relationship with Vuyokazi Nciweni, who is expecting their second child, and Tirelo Kale, with whom he recently welcomed their first baby.

Mpumelelo’s experiences with polygamy are showcased on his family’s reality show, Izingane Zes’thembu.

In an interview with TshisaLive, Mpumelelo shared how he manages his polygamous lifestyle.

“I got an opportunity to showcase what I do. How to structure polygamy and make people understand that you don’t start polygamy when you are old. You have to start it now and grow with it to understand the dynamics. It’s not forced. It’s something I was raised in. People are failing to understand that,” he said in the interview.

Lessons learned from his father through polygamy

Following in his father’s footsteps with a similar lifestyle, Mpumelelo shares with TshisaLive the valuable lessons he has gained from his father’s journey as a polygamist.

“What I learned from my father is to always be truthful, humble and respectful, and know how to apologise.

“In Zulu we have a saying that a person does what they witnessed from their father when growing up. It’s like someone who grows up in a family where they have a taxi business, a person who grows up in such a home would never turn down that business,” he further stated.

Planning to have more women

Polygamy involves having multiple wives, and for Mpumelelo, his roster of girlfriends does not end with Vuyokazi and Tirelo.

In his interview with Gogo Skhotheni on The Venting Podcast earlier this year, Mpumelelo mentioned that he plans to have more women.

“I love women. I would be lying if I said my father convinced me into being a polygamist. If I was doing it for my father, I would not be able to continue doing it.

“I am still going to continue. I won’t say how many women I plan to have, but they’ll be more than my father has,” he said in the interview.
