Fans left stranded in the rain as Cassper and Nasty C cancel Durban performance

Fans were left frustrated in the rain over the weekend when Cassper Nyovest and Nasty C could not perform at People’s Park in Durban.

Durbanites were left unimpressed by rappers Cassper Nyovest and Nasty C’s weak excuse of wet equipment after they cancelled a gig on the weekend.

“Durban we really sorry that we weren’t able to perform today. The sound desk got damaged due to rain, after a number of attempts to try and recover the sound we had to make the tough decision of cancelling the show,” the rappers said in a joint statement released on Sunday.

Nyovest and Nasty C were supposed to perform at Durban’s People’s Park on Saturday as part of their African Throne Tour.

“Our team is working to see how to best remedy this. Thank you for your support and we will keep you posted. Again, we’re so sorry,” concluded the statement.

Just last week, music festival Rocking the Daises was forced to postpone their event to November due to floods in the Western Cape. It was scheduled to take place in the first weekend of October, in Cape Town and in Johannesburg respectively.

Fans not having Cassper and Nasty C’s apology

Despite this seemingly remorseful apology, their fans could not hide their frustration about the cancellation.

“I came from Uganda to Durban to attend your show now what’s this,” said Cachindah Mozy on Instagram.

“You and Cassper should’ve addressed the audience about the sound! Bro you’re from Durban, I’m disappointed,” commented Samkelo Mdletshe.

Fans who were in attendance were stranded in the downpour.

“But y’all should’ve at least gotten someone to inform us because we were literally soaking wet and freezing,” commented yandadee_13.

“But why didn’t y’all communicate that y’all just left us in the rain like that I’m disappointed mufasa been your fan since the beginning but this is very wrong,” said Siyamthanda Nkosi.

But while some fans complained, another section of the patrons were understanding and assuring how much they loved the artists.

“Bro you know this is Durban and in summer it always rains, and you should have put in a Marquee. Now all your patrons are suffering please do better and refund them or reschedule,” wrote Nkulleko mntambo on Instagram.

The pair went on Ukhozi FM to promote the show, days leading up to the event where Cassper even had fun talking in isiZulu on the biggest station on the continent.

The rappers have already performed in Zambia, eSwatini and Cape Town on their tour which is expected to run until the end of this month. Due to Nasty C and Cassper Nyovest having released new albums a few weeks ago, the tour has also acted as a way of promoting the albums.
