Generations in Ashes

By Londiwe Dlomo

The lines have been drawn and the battle for the 8pm time slot has well and truly begun.

After an aggressive ad campaign citing the regeneration of 8pm, the highly anticipated Ashes to Ashes was finally on screens last night.

According to e.tv’s website, Ashes to Ashes is a thrilling drama about a family which is involved in the business of funerals.

And judging by the public’s reaction, it did not disappoint.

The new show features some of the fired 16 actors from Generations. Industry heavyweight Nambitha Mpumlwana alongside Zenande Mfenyana, Maggie Benedict and Patrick Shai are among the actors who are featured in the drama.

There were many twets and facebook posts about how Mfundi Vundla is regretting his decision. Vundla silenced all critics by simply tweeting this morning about his best wishes for the show.

Even Khanyi Mbau made an appearance as Pinki, to the surprise and delight of her fans. Mbau is currently working up a storm, having recently appeared on Vuzu advertising drama Ayeye. She also hosts her Katch it with Khanyi talk show.
