LISTEN: 702’s Xolani Gwala reveals he’s been diagnosed with colon cancer

Even though the cancer is at an advanced stage, Gwala says he is ready to fight for his life.

Talk Radio 702’s breakfast show host Xolani Gwala has revealed that he has been diagnosed with colon cancer.

“After thorough investigations, they found that I have colon cancer which is advanced,” Gwala told fellow 702 presenter Stephen Grootes on Friday morning.

“So far they have done the first operation to take out the tumor, but obviously there is still quite a lot that still needs to happen. As early as next week I am starting chemo-therapy.”

This comes three weeks after the radio station announced Gwala would be off air for several weeks to as a result of a “serious medical challenge”.

Even though the cancer was at an advanced stage, Gwala said he was ready to fight for his life.

“It is going to be a very long fight partly because it was advanced – a difficult fight but a fight I am ready for,” he said.
