Local comedians make global video comedy finals
A Cape Town production company's video comedy sketch is a finalist in the global competition 'America Meet World'.
ComedyOn Air’s sketch “Moonbeam and the Cacti” has reached the finals of the global comedy competition ‘America Meet World’.
Comedy On Air’s comedy short ‘Moonbeam and the cacti’ featuring Rob van Vuuren has made the shortlist of 15 clips from entries sent in from 21 countries.
Nor are they alone. Several South Africans submissions have reached the finals, including Christopher Steenkamp’s “Insights from a cubicle“, Eureka Nkese’s “Johnnys movie reviews” and Nik Rabinowitz’s “America meet Nik“.
The winner, who will only be announced in March, will be flown to America to meet the executive producers of top US comedy ‘The Daily Show with Jon Stewart’. The competition is dedicated to taking Americans around the world through laughter and entertainment. Viewers are encouraged to cast votes for their favourites and leave comments.
