Oros Mampofu not fired from ‘Skeem Sam’

Although we do not fully know if Oros together with the cast of 'Igazi' will be returning to our TV screens soon, we can surely live in hope.

Former Skeem Sam actor Oros Mampofu has recently made waves over social media, with news of him being fired from the SABC TV drama. It is alleged that the young actor was axed from his character role, Jama, purely because he took up a role on rival channel Mzansi Magic; other speculations suggested that Oros had attempted to fool the directors of the TV drama by allowing his twin brother Prince to fill in for him on days when he was booked to shoot on both soapies.

Skeem Sam publicist Percy Vilakazi corrected the rumours and gave a valid reason for the sudden death of SA pretty boy Jama. “The character of Jama was initially written to be played over a period of three months; however the directors grew so found of Oros and his acting ability that it was extended to two years.  Sadly like all good things, Jama had to die as per the original script.”

Vilakazi further went to extend how it would be impossible for Prince to have filled in for his twin brother as through time the cast and crew knew how to tell the pair apart.

“Oros and Prince are not as identical as people perceive them to be, and our crew is smart enough to tell them apart, especially after having a working relationship with Oros,” said Vilakazi.

Although we do not fully know if Oros together with the cast of Igazi will be returning to our TV screens soon, we can surely live in hope.
