Royalty Soapie Awards confirms date
Following on from Monday's statement that it has been postponed, organisers of the Royalty Soapie Awards have announced that the event will take place at the Durban International Convention Centre on Saturday, 8 March 2014.

Said project director Sindile Xulu: “As a team we are relieved to have a firm date and we will focus our energies on producing a top-class event that reflects the excellence of the work done by South Africa’s burgeoning television soap industry. It will be a night of glamour, entertainment and celebration.”
Durban ICC chief executive officer Julie-May Ellingson confirmed that the venue is ready to host the show, saying: “The Durban ICC is synonymous with the best in class events and we will roll-out the red carpet and the best infrastructure our venue has to offer.”
The awards will be broadcast on SABC1.
“We are in the process of finalising our negotiations for next year’s event and we are confident we will strike a win-win deal for all,” said SABC TV general manager, Leo Manne.
The second announcement of finalists in the acting categories will be made on Wednesday, 23 October and voting lines for the Most Popular Soapie opens on Saturday, 2 November.
A date for the opening of ticket sales for the event will be announced in the near future.
