The Primrose police have sent a warning about illegal ammunition to the community.
“Keeping illegal ammunition is an offence and one can be prosecuted if found in possession of illegal ammunition,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
The warning comes after a 31-year-old man was recently arrested when rounds of illegal ammunition were found in his Primrose home.
The ammunition was found during a police search for drugs.
“Officers were at the home searching for drugs, as they had received an anonymous tip-off that there were drugs on the property.
“While searching the premises they found the live ammunition,” said Maome.
The accused was asked to produce a licence for the ammunition and when he was unable to do so he was arrested.
He was released on bail and is expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court at a later date.
