The Germiston team and the GCN's chosen charity enjoy the launch party of the Caxton Reynolds Race on Thursday, at Hirch's Boksburg. From left are: Sister Wendy Hahne (Elandsvallei Home for the Aged), Zodwa Nkambule (Germiston Red Cross Society), Stanslas Supuni (Germiston Red Cross Society) and Louise and Hennie Bingle (Caxton Reynolds Race participants).
Teams from the Caxton Reynolds Race 2013 got their first lead on Thursday (July 18), at the meet and greet cocktail launch party at Hirsch’s Boksburg.
The teams are all excited to get the race started, and proof of completed tasks were already submitted only a couple of hours after receiving their leads.
The Caxton Reynolds Race 2013 will see all 12 teams from across the entire East Rand complete a series of tasks over the next six weeks.
Each week they will get points according to the timing in which they submit their proof of completed tasks.
Louise Bingle laughs during her team’s first challenge.
The top three teams with the most points by the end of the seven-week period (in which they actively take part in the competition), will go through to the finals at the Boksburg Rugby Club, on September 21.
This will be a day filled with fun activities and entertainment for both children and adults.
Here are all the teams from the East Rand:
Cynthia and Itumeleng Tsomele (African Reporter), Warren Hitchcock and Clive le Roux (Alberton Record), Ntombifuthi Nhlapo and Nompumelelo Kotane (Bedfordview/Edenvale News and Joburg East Express), Jenny Seaton-Smith and Kate Rheeders (Benoni City Times), Karen and Kirsty Heath (Boksburg Advertiser), Arauna and Bianca Bezuidenhout (Brakpan Herald), Dean and Clayton Passmore (Comaro Chronicle), Louise and Hennie Bingle (Germiston City News), Dane van Tonder and Ashleigh Schnetler (Kempton Express), Dheshan and Prema Naran (Southern Courier), Marisa and Dennis Williams (Springs Advertiser) and Yvonne Motsoko and Mbuso Nkosi (Tembisan).
