Housebreaking decreases in Primrose

Some crimes down, others increase over festive season.

The Primrose SAPS are pleased to report that, over the festive season, housebreaking and theft incidents decreased drastically in the suburb.

They are still, however, experiencing problems with theft of and theft out of motor vehicles.

“We experienced a very quiet festive season, except in regard to the theft of and the theft out of motor vehicles.

“These two crimes increased during this time,” said Const Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose SAPS.

Maome told the GCN that,in order for the police to be able to combat these crimes effectively, the community needs to come on board and assist them.

“We have been going around checking and taking photographs of vehicles which have been left on the streets.

“There were so many that we found nearly every street had one or two vehicles left unattended on them,” he said.

“As police we are trying our best, but our community is letting us down.

“The community must also inform their visitors about the theft of motor vehicles in the area and let them park inside their properties when they come to visit.

“We will keep on working hard to overcome these challenges.”

The community is urged to contact the sector vehicles if they notice any suspicious movements in their streets.
