The Primrose SAPS recently arrested a 24-year-old man on two counts of theft and malicious damage to property.
The arrest followed two separate incidents.
The first was reported to police by a man who alleged that he was on duty at the main gate of a business, when he fell asleep in the guardhouse.
He said that when he woke up his cellphone was missing and the gate had been damaged.
Officers were able to identify and track the suspect with the help of CCTV footage collected from the scene.
In the second incident, the accused was allegedly involved in the theft of a police radio.
This theft was reported to have happened when officers were called to the scene of a domestic dispute.
When officers arrived they found that the couple involved were engaged in a physical fight, and jumped out of their vehicle to try and break up the skirmish.
While the officers were distracted, the accused removed the police radio from the vehicle and vanished.
Detectives were able to track him down and he was arrested.
The man was taken to the Primrose Police Station where he was held pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrates Court.
