A happy celebration

Sheriff's office gives back to the community.

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development joined hands with the international community on June 12, to celebrate the sixth World Sheriff Day.

The day contributes significantly to the promotion of access to justice and brings recognition to the sheriff’s profession, as well as raising awareness of the role of the sheriff.

Sheriffs have an important role in the criminal justice system, as they act as a third party to serve the court process and to execute the warrants and orders of the court, which are issued in terms of the Act and the regulations of the different courts.

The office of Anton Greyling, sheriff for Germiston South, played their part in giving back to the community, last Thursday.

The office personnel handed out some food parcels and cold drinks at the Germiston Magistrates Court, the Regional Court and Maintenance Court in the city.

Cold drinks were also delivered to an old age home in Germiston

Staff thank McDonald’s Lambton for sponsoring the cold drinks.

The Germiston South sheriff’s office can be contacted on 011 873-4142, and is open Monday to Friday, from 8am to 4.30pm.
