Police speak to children during 16 Days of Activism

Primrose police reach out to the children.

Children in the Makause, Delport and Marathon informal settlements, in Primrose, had the message of “Say no to Crime” brought to them, last Saturday.

Members of the Primrose SAPS, the Germiston Cluster Social Crime Prevention co-ordinators, the Primrose SAPS Crime Prevention Youth Desk and volunteers from Victim Empowerment, led by Primrose SAPS station commander Col Mduduzi Khuzwayo, spoke to about 300 children about crime-related issues.

The visits formed part of the Primrose police’s 16 Days of Activism Campaign.

But it wasn’t all talk, as the event was sponsored by Instrument Transformer Technology, Chubby Chums for the Children’s Homes and Cartoon Candy, so the children received goodie bags and were entertained by police members.

Thanks to a generous donation of toys from the Avril Elizabeth Home, the children also received early Christmas presents to take home with them.

Sgt Styles Maome, the communications officer for the Primrose SAPS, said the day was a great success and the police were pleased to reach so many children.
