While many residents were enjoying some down time over the Easter weekend, the owners of Motoradio, in Victoria Street, were dealing with yet another business robbery.
Owners Stanley and Malcolm Nathan explained to a GCN journalist that this is the third break-in, in the past three years, and the second time the alleged thieves have come through the company’s roof.
The break-in took place on Saturday, April 4, at approximately 10.45pm.
The business’ security company claimed to have come to the scene, but neither Stanley nor Malcolm was called to the business to open the premises.
“We have given the security company instruction to call one of the key holders to come and open the business in such incidents.
“We also made it clear that if the lights in the workshop are on there is something wrong, as we turn all the lights off before locking up each night,” said Malcolm .
Stock and jewellery to the value of R2-million was taken during the robbery, with a total of six safes either forced or ground open.
The owners are offering a R50 000 reward for the return of the stock taken.
A case of business robbery is currently being investigated by the Germiston police.
Accoring to WO Deon Doubell, the police have no leads at this moment in time.
Doubell has asked for anyone with information, which could lead to the recovery of the stock and the arrest of the accused, to contact him on 071 332 8412.
