Care centre finds missing man’s body in hospital mortuary

Missing care centre resident has died.

The staff and residents at the Tswelopele Frail Care Centre, in Hillbrow, are in mourning.

The body of missing resident Horst Grobelyn (84), who suffered from dementia (GCN, June 5), was positively identified in the Bertha Gxowa Hospital’s mortuary on June 8.

Grobelyn went missing from the centre on May 8.

Nursing service manager at Tswelopele Sylvia Modiselle told the GCN that hospital records show that he was admitted to the hospital on May 10 and died on May 13.

“As he suffered from dementia and memory loss and could not always remember his name, the name on the file was not his and, although we visited the hospital a number of times, we did not trace him due to this,” she said.
