Almost time for the Spelling Bee

Children are brushing up their spelling skills in anticipation of the Spelling Bee competition.

The Spelling Bee roadshow, powered by Hirsch’s, recently visited Kensington Ridge Primary, which was the winning school in last year’s Spelling Bee competition.

Now in its second year, the Spelling Bee competition is one of the events held under the auspices of Caxton, to promote literacy.

The event is aimed at giving our future leaders an opportunity to develop their public speaking skills, improve their speech and promote unerring usage of the English language, pronunciation and spelling.

Brigitte Thysse, regional public relations and marketing manager of Hirsch’s Johannesburg, spoke of the importance of literacy and why it’s important to host and be involved in this initiative.
