The top four stories on www.germistoncitynews.co.za for the week, March 17 to 23, were:

1. Beware of flash floods, heavy rain: https://bit.ly/1UGntD6 The Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) was on high alert due to the heavy rains that were pouring across the metro recently.

Emergency services and disaster management teams put together response plans which included placing swift water rescue crews on standby for the duration of this period of rain.

2. Seven night-time speedsters nabbed in Leondale: https://bit.ly/1MBILel EMPD Speed Law Enforcement Unit members were out in full force recently.

They targeted motorists not observing the speed limit on Nedervene Road in Leondale (a 70km/h zone), between 6pm and midnight. Between 6.30pm and 10pm, seven drivers were locked up for speeding.

3. Taxi driver shot in face, taxi set alight: https://bit.ly/1UFbJBO The Germiston SAPS are currently investigating a case of attempted murder, after a taxi driver was shot in the face, recently. The man was attacked by two unknown assailants inside his taxi, at the Germiston Taxi Rank.

4. Video comes alive: https://bit.ly/21uXjmV Want to feel like you were at the scene? Then watch this 3D virtual reality video by My Panoramic of the Makause informal settlement service delivery protest. The protest saw thousands of residents march to the Germiston Civic Centre.
