Delville dancer shines at World Freestyle Championships

Jessica Silva returned home from the World Freestyle Championships with a trophy.

Not only did Jessica Silva’s dancing dreams come true but the young South African champion dancer returned home with a trophy.

Jessica (12) from Delville recently returned home from the World Freestyle Championships which were held in Blackpool in the United Kingdom.

In order to attend the competition Jessica had to raise funds (GCN, February 24, “Young dancer needs support”) and online exclusive article (March 8, “Watch talented Germiston dancer in action and help her get to Blackpool”).

The talented dancer placed seventh in the u-14 championship slow dance section.

There were 96 dancers competing from around the world for the top spots in six heats.

Jessica Silva (12) proudly shows off her seventh placed trophy which she won in the u-14 championship slow dance section.

Jessica also danced in the u-14 solo championship section and managed to make it to the quarter-finals (Top 20).

Her parents, Sergio and Charlene Silva, as well as her trainer Tiffany Little-Niewenhuizen from Universal Dance Centre (located at the Italian Club in Bedfordview), are extremely proud of her achievements at the World Freestyle Championships.

Jessica trained very hard and put in many hours of preparation for this first time experience, however, this would have been even more difficult without the support of her family, trainer and friends.

The youngster is looking forward to taking her dancing to greater heights.
