Netcare 911 responded to a taxi rollover shortly after 7am, on Tuesday, on the N17 highway in Germiston travelling towards Dalpark.
It is alleged that the cause of the accident was a mechanical one.
Sixteen passengers, including the driver, were injured and treated on scene before being transported to hospital.
