Young players win honours for good performance
Gudlhuza FC from Katlehong’s Tsietsi Section held their award ceremony on December 1.
Players who were rewarded for good performance were drawn from the following division: u-11, u-13, u-15 and u-17. For their efforts, they received trophies, medals and certificates.
Themba Gudlhuza, who was rewarded with 2018 man of the year award, said the purpose of the event was to reward players for their outstanding performances. He is also the chairperson of the club.

Three coaches – Bongani Sibiya, Sibusiso Sibiya and Thato Mokoena – received trophies and certificates for their dedicated service in developing their teams.
“We want to honour you for doing so well in representing the club,” said Gudlhuza.
Gudlhuza FC u-11 team won the School Holiday’s Soccer Tournament organised by Sparking FC during the October school holidays.
The u-13 team won several titles including the Knock-Out, League Cup, League Championship (Palm Ridge Junior League Football Association), while the u-15 team won the Eden Park Local Football Association championship.
The u-17 team were not registered with any league this year but this did not stop them winning a number of friendly games.
Gudlhuza said: “We are planning to introduce a new division, the u-19 category next year. Players who are in the u-17 division will be promoted to the new division.”

• Players’ player of the year was taken by Mandlenkosi Manqele u-11; Vincent Qhimabe u-13; Ntando Lubisi and Manqoba Makhombothi, u-11.
• Lwandle Gudlhuza u-13 and Tello Hlabeli u-15 took home the most improved player of the year awards.
• Top goal scorer of the year award was awarded to Kagiso Gontse u-11; Vincent Qhimabe u-13; Siyabonga Makgo u-15; Patrick Sibiya u-17.
• Best defender of the year award was taken by Katleho Mopedi and Ntando Mbhele.
• Goalkeeper of the year award went to Mnqobi Nxumalo.
The following Gudlhuza Netball Team players were also rewarded for their hard work: Nomonde Ndlovu, Zamokuhle Ngubane, Nosipho Mabuya, Nomvula Motaung, Promise Sibisi and Zanele Manyathi.
