Busy weekend for Katlehong police

Katlehong police shared their weekend arrest statistics.

Officers from the Katlehong SAPS Crime Prevention Unit, with the help of detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and EMPD, hit the streets in several weekend operations.

The operations, held between October 18 and 20, led to the arrest of 47 suspects.

The accused were charged with several different offences.

Charges included rape, attempted rape, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault, possession of a hijacked motor vehicle, bribery, shoplifting, possession of suspected stolen goods, possession of drugs and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Katlehong SAPS station commander Col Sammy Thambo was pleased with the arrests made and encouraged the community to continue to help in the fight against crime.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
