Primrose SAPS warns community of scam

Primrose police are appealing to the community of Primrose to be careful of a scam of paying for police services.

“Community members who were arrested, especially those who were arrested for drinking and driving have to be careful of a person who is calling and informing them that the court date is set for a certain date and they are supposed to pay a certain fee so that they can make a plan with their cases,” said Primrose police spokesperson Sgt Styles Maome.

He said police services are free.

“As police, we do not call people and ask them to pay money for our services. “We suspect that it’s a scam, our community should not send or deposit money. They should contact their investigating officer to hear about court dates and proceedings,” said Maome.

Anyone witnessing or receiving similar issues can report to Primrose SAPS on 011 842 0500 or the detective branch on 011 776 1600.
