Through community initiatives, the CPF has already raised R5 000 in two months.

The uniforms and equipment will allow CPF members to improve their community services.

According to Margarretta Sekul, Elsburg CPF secretary, the forum is in need of equipment such as torch lights and reflective jackets.

“There is a big project that we are working on with Spot Watch Security.

“We are also raising funds to implement the snapper camera system, which recognises number plates,” she said.

“When someone’s car is stolen it can, therefore, be easily traced. We have also raised funds by selling boerewors rolls and have done well so far,” said Sekul.

The CPF is involved with the community in several projects. Since 2020 the forum has supported a local soup kitchen run by Thys Lourens.

“We also support the team at Elsburg Post Office to ensure they open the doors to the branch again,” said Sekul.

“The CPF does charity work to uplift the community and so we hosted a drive to collect second-hand clothing for those in need.”

“Our soup kitchen is dependent on community donations and we ask residents that they buy extra noodles or tin food to make donations.

“There is a number of elderly and unemployed youth in our community and their SASSA grants do not cover everything,” said Sekul.

The CPF hosted another event on July 30 when they raised funds to contribute towards their budget to get proper equipment.

“We wanted to lift the mood of young people by keeping them entertained. There is talent in Elsburg and we are trying to expose that,” said Sekul.

“The Elsburg High School allowed us to use their hall,” she said.

“People need to be aware of what is happening here so we can be assisted in resolving some of the issues.

“The train station is not operational because they stole the train cables,” said Sekul.
