Meet the new of Speaker of Ekurhuleni council: Nthabiseng Tshihvenga

She is ready to serve the residents of Ekurhuleni.

Who is the newly elected speaker of the council, Nthabiseng Tshivhenga?

Before she is the speaker of Ekurhuleni, she is a mother of four – three girls and a boy – and a sister to two younger brothers.

She was born in Thembisa where she and her family lived in Mashemong Section.

She went to Mashemong Primary School until Grade Two when her family moved to Daveyton, Etwatwa, where she finished her primary schooling at Melodi Primary School.

She completed her high school at St Francis College in Benoni.

She has a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of South Africa (Unisa) and a national diploma from the University of Johannesburg in information technology, where she majored in business analysis and information systems.

She also holds a certificate in leadership in municipal governance from the University of Witwatersrand School of Governance (Wits), a certificate in project management in public administration from Unisa, a certificate in legislative drafting for municipalities from the Department of Justice (Justice College) and two certificates from Vulindlela Academy in monitoring and evaluation in South African municipalities and performance management statistics and probabilities in South African municipalities.

Tshivenga has served as a proportional councillor in the City of Ekurhuleni since August 2016 to date.

She is a member of the EFF and part of the Ekurhuleni Regional Command Team leadership collective.

From November 2012 to August 2016 she was employed in the city as a researcher for the Municipal Public Accounts Committee.

She has also worked as a service delivery monitoring and evaluation practitioner and has held other positions as a business analyst and senior information officer from July 2009 to October 2012.

She worked for the Department of Health and Social Development, specialising in primary health care statistics, data collation and analysis.

She also has expertise in the areas of project and programme management, public and private partnerships (PPP), business analysis, MFMA compliance, information and communication technology, data indicator and information management, event management, stakeholder mobilisation and management, service delivery/policy monitoring and evaluation, service delivery impact analysis and the analysis of IDP and SDBIPs.
