150 pairs of school shoes donated to Primrose Primary

The school was selected because the learners it caters to are mostly from disadvantaged areas like Makause informal settlement.

Transnet Engineering concluded Mandela Month last Tuesday with a visit to Primrose Primary School to donate 150 school shoes.

The school was selected because the learners it caters to are mostly from disadvantaged areas like Makause informal settlement.

The Transnet team said they remain responsible and committed to the communities they operate in.

Mandela month was celebrated under the theme “It’s still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity.”

In response to Mandela’s selfless call, Transnet Engineering embarked on a school shoe drive country-wide.

The team said this contribution serves as a helping hand not just to the learners but to families too.

Most of them are unemployed and rely on social grants to survive, making school shoes a luxury purchase.

The school principal, Noko Selepe, said they are grateful for companies like Transtnet who saw a need in the school and decided to come and give to those in need.

“This act of kindness shows us that companies in our areas care about us.

“For the learners who have received shoes, it means a lot to them and us as a school because this means the children can be confident like other children because they have school shoes and can focus on their education,” said Selepe.
