Local school shine in recycling competition winning 70 brand-new desks.

Lakeside Primary School has emerged as the proud winner of Tetra Pak’s Recycle Carton School Competition in Gauteng.

This achievement not only earned them a R25 000 prize but also 70 brand-new desks, generously provided through a collaboration between Tetra Pak, Orange Grove, RFG Foods and Woodlands Dairy.

The competition, which engaged over 300 000 students across four provinces, aims to instill environmental responsibility and eco-consciousness in young learners.

A testament to their unwavering commitment to sustainability, Lakeside Primary’s victory highlights the dedication of its students and staff, who have gone above and beyond to champion recycling and environmental care.

By integrating sustainability into their education, Lakeside Primary is not just teaching students – it is shaping future leaders who understand the importance of reducing waste, recycling, and protecting the planet.

“The 70 new desks are more than just a reward; they are a symbol of progress and a catalyst for the school’s ongoing environmental efforts, providing students with the resources they need to learn and grow in a sustainable environment,” said Klaus Plenge, Tetra Pak Southern Africa managing director.

“This partnership between corporate sponsors and educational institutions underscores a shared vision: to nurture environmental stewardship from a young age and equip students with the tools and knowledge to create a greener, more sustainable future.
