Justice served as Primrose rapist gets 15 years behind bars

Detective Warrant Officer Moyana Tsundzu’s thorough investigation led to the conviction of a Primrose man who raped a woman after she turned down his advances at a tavern.

The Germiston Regional Court sentenced Chanter Baloyi from Primrose to 15 years imprisonment for rape.

Detective Warrant Officer Moyana Tsundzu investigated a rape involving a female victim. She was at a tavern with her sister, watching a soccer match, when a man approached them and proposed a romantic relationship with the victim. However, she declined his advances.

“After the soccer match ended, the victim walked home and came across the accused, who grabbed her and raped her,” said Ekurhuleni district communications officer Captain Neldah Sekgobela.

“The case was registered at the Primrose SAPS and assigned to Tsundzu, who submitted all the evidence expected by the magistrate. The accused was found guilty on September 17 of rape.”
