Two bakkies impounded for illegal dumping in Germiston

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) impounded two bakkies and fined the drivers after catching them dumping rubble illegally.

The EMPD has impounded two bakkies for illegal dumping in Germiston and Boksburg, highlighting the city’s zero-tolerance approach to violations of municipal by-laws.

According to EMPD By-Law Enforcement Unit officers, the first incident occurred in Germiston at the corner of Stanley and Pretoria roads, where the driver of a white Kia bakkie was found dumping rubble illegally. The driver and his workers were apprehended on the scene.

Later the same day, officers intercepted a white Ford bakkie along Trichardt Road in Boksburg, where the driver was also caught dumping rubble illegally.

Both vehicles were impounded and taken to the Boksburg Pound, and fines were issued to the drivers involved.

“The community plays a crucial role in keeping our city clean and safe. Illegal dumping is a violation of municipal by-laws and carries serious consequences,” a statement by EMPD read.

Residents are encouraged to report illegal dumping to law enforcement to help ensure accountability.

The EMPD added that officers will continue to patrol areas prone to illegal dumping and warned that similar offences will be met with strict enforcement measures.
