United continue to lead at the top

Log leaders United FC won 2–1 against Sputla Stars FC during the U17 SAFA Ekurhuleni Regional League at Nigel on September 16.
Tshepo ‘Stsheda’ Madigoe and Lebohang ‘Bradarky’ Mashinloane led the team to victory after scoring two goals.
Madigoe scored the opening goal in the first half followed by the second goal two minutes before the final whistle from Mashinloane, which sealed the game for the Katlehong side.
Shon Chabangu scored the only goal for Sputla Stars FC. According to the Kaizer Chiefs legend Zebulion Sputla Nhlapo, the game was tough as they were playing against a good team.
“My players did well even though they lost focus and discipline to concede the two goals. I told them to not allow the opponent’s space to play during halftime but they lost concentration. We lost against a good team hence they are number one on the log and we congratulate them. They are disciplined and they have a good coach.”
United FC head coach Collen Phiri said they played well on Saturday. However, they lost 3-1 against Just Valentine’s on Sunday.
“We now plan for the Castle League playoffs. We plan to beef up the squad with about four to six players to get the experience we need.”
The club is first on the ERL log with 50 points. They played 20 games, won 16 and lost two. They have scored 42 goals and conceded 15.
