Business forum keeps Primrose clean
Lucky Muyere said a dirty area attracts criminal activities and crime spikes in the area.
The Primrose Business Forum was established last year with the aim of improving Primrose as a community.
The forum has been involved in multiple clean-up projects.
Ackerman’s Pharmacy is one of the local businesses that form the forum.
On February 7, the pharmacy’s team members were seen cleaning the pavements in Fishers Hill.

“We divide up into teams and assign them to clean various areas of the town,” said team member Lucky Muyere.
“It was decided we could now expand our services to the greater Primrose area instead of cleaning Rietfontein Road.
“While the other teams clean the area around the two schools and Churchill Street, we clear the dirt and weeds in Fishers Hill. The grass in the public parks will be cut as a follow-up job.
“Residents are asked not to dispose of their rubbish on the pavements because this contributes to the community’s increased rodent infestation.
“There are potential health consequences associated with illegal dumping as well,” said Muyere.
According to Muyere, criminal activity and increased crime are drawn to unclean areas.
“Anyone who is pursued by the community and possesses a gun can simply toss it into the bushes because no one will be able to locate it.

“People sell drugs while standing on corners because the dirt helps them conceal their goods,” said Muyere.
Additionally, he told the locals that pavement cleaning makes a difference.
