On July 17 the city was informed by Rand Water that repairs at the Palmiet Booster Station were complete.
Water tankers were sent by CoE to affected communities as water supply was restored.
Although the water tankers, provided to the hospital, were meant to minimise the impact on services, the head of communications for the Gauteng Department of Health Motalatale Modiba said the amount of tankers was inadequate to minimise the impact on services.
“The facility’s management continues to engage relevant stakeholders to put contingency measures in place as the hospital relies on a constant supply of water from the relevant authorities to carry out providing health services,” said Modiba.
“The department would like to apologise to patients and the public for the inconvenience that was caused by the water challenge experienced by the water utility,” said Modiba.
