Young athlete wins school championships in Germiston
I attend all the events that I can. It is important for us as parents to show up for our children and offere that moral support.

Sanele Mthonjeni won gold in the walking race boys U13 category at the Gauteng Primary Schools Championships, which were held at Germiston Stadium.
The highly anticipated event came after an exciting few weeks of athletics across the province, with Athletics South Africa (ASA) qualifying times in mind.
Leaners from across the province attended the event to qualify for the South African Schools Championships.

With the high school championships already completed, parents and participants alike awaited this day to earn a position in the nationals.
Sanele from Lakeside Primary School reached his dreams of competing at the national championships, which will also be hosted at the Germiston Stadium on March 21 and 22.
Sanele said he was proud of his performance aiming for another gold at the nationals.
“My coach always rallies behind me to succeed. I am glad to have seen him and my mother present to support me while competing,” said Sanele.
His mother Nontombizini Mthonjeni said she was happy for her boy and she wishes to see him continue winning.

“He is in Grade Seven and I always support him. I attend all the events that I can.
“It is important for us as parents to show up for our children and offer that moral support,” said Nontombizini.
“I always encourage him to keep his head up whether he loses or wins. Because I attend his events I get to experience these moments with him.”
