Gauteng police clamp down on crime in operations
Over 400 suspects were arrested in a massive joint operation by the Gauteng Traffic Police, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, SAPS, and other law enforcement agencies across Gauteng.

The Gauteng Traffic Police (GTP) and the Gauteng Traffic Wardens (GTWs) working with the SAPS and other law enforcement agencies arrested more than 400 suspects in the cities of Ekurhuleni, Tshwane, Johannesburg, West Rand District Municipality and the Sedibeng District Municipality.
In the City of Johannesburg saw arrests made for cases which include possession of drugs, possession of stolen vehicle, undocumented persons as well as drinking and driving. At least 575 people and 94 vehicles were searched across the city.

The operations covered areas like Eldorado Park, Hillbrow, Moroka, Braamfisher, Dobsonville, Sophiatown and Doornkop areas.
More than 167 suspects were arrested in the City of Ekurhuleni, 44 suspects were arrested for possession of drugs and 46 suspects for drinking and driving. Thirty-three undocumented persons have been arrested for contravening the immigration act and seven hijacked vehicles have been recovered in Tembisa, Ivory Park, Valorous, Windmill Park, Germiston and Palm Ridge. A total of 744 people and 359 vehicles were searched during the operations.
In the City of Tshwane, 101 arrests were made and many of the cases include 26 arrests for public drinking, 11 for drinking and driving and 38 for undocumented persons. A total of 928 persons and 373 vehicles were searched across the city.

The operations covered Sunny Side, Olievenhoutbosch, Pretoria Central, Ladium, Sunny Side, Bronkhorstspruit, Akasia, Ga Rankuwa, Olievenhoutbosch, Hammanskraal, Atteridgeville and Ekangala.
The Sedibeng District Municipality yielded 93 arrests within the Meyerton, Evaton, Vanderbijlpark and Sebokeng areas.
While 42 of the arrests were for drunk driving, 16 for possession of drugs, 17 for undocumented persons and 10 for selling liquor without a license. A total of 1 350 vehicles were searched during the operations.
