Ekurhuleni water supply restoration underway after Rand Water maintenance

The City of Ekurhuleni says water restoration is under way after Rand Water maintenance, cautioning residents in high-lying areas that supply may return more slowly.

The City of Ekurhuleni confirmed on December 15 that Rand Water has completed planned maintenance on its bulk water supply infrastructure.

The work, which began on December 7 resulted in water supply interruptions in several parts of the metro.

“Although the maintenance has been finalised, the restoration of water supply will take place gradually, with high-lying areas expected to experience slower recovery, ” said CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

City technicians are monitoring reservoir levels using real-time, remote water-level reading technology across the water storage network.

“This allows for proactive intervention to ensure the system steadily returns to full capacity.”

Water tanker services will continue to operate in areas where water supply has not yet been fully restored.
