East Rand Palliative Care marks 40 years with R40 for 40 campaign
East Rand Palliative Care celebrates four decades of service and invites the community to support its R40 for 40 Years campaign, raising funds to sustain vital palliative care across the East Rand.
This year, East Rand Palliative Care celebrates 40 years of care and community.
This milestone reflects four decades of supporting patients and families across the East Rand during some of life’s most difficult moments.
Since 1986, the NPO has provided care in homes, at bedsides, and in conversations.
What started with a small group of dedicated individuals has grown into a community-based service that continues to ensure that no one faces serious illness alone.

To mark this milestone, East Rand Palliative Care has launched its R40 for 40 Years campaign, with a goal of raising R400 000.
The campaign invites and encourages community members to donate R40 in honour of the organisation’s 40 years of service.
“While R40 may seem like a small amount, the collective impact of many contributions will help ensure that essential palliative care services continue to reach those who need them most,” said Jonquil Siepman, marketing and media liaison for East Rand Palliative Care.
She explained that these services include medical care, emotional and psychological support, and guidance for families navigating life-limiting illnesses.
As an NPO, East Rand Palliative Care relies on the ongoing support of the community to sustain its work.

“We’ve always believed that care is something a community carries together,” Siepman highlighted.
“This campaign is a simple way for people to be part of that care and help us continue supporting families across the East Rand.”
Community members who would like to support the campaign can make a donation of R40 via the following link: https://pay.yoco.com/erpc.
“As East Rand Palliative Care reflects on 40 years of service, our focus remains on the future, continuing to walk alongside patients and families with compassion, dignity and support,” Siepman added.
