Passenger killed after sedan crashes into truck on N12

A passenger died, and the driver was injured after a sedan crashed into the back of an eight-ton truck on the N12 East.

A male passenger died in a crash on the N12 East in the early hours of May 30.

According to the City of Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS), the crash occurred at about 02:50, shortly after the N12/ R24 split.

Emergency crews from the Bedfordview Fire Station responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle accident.

One person died and another was injured when a sedan collided with an eight-ton truck on the N12 East near the N12/R24 split.

On arrival, firefighters found that a sedan had crashed into the rear of an eight-ton truck travelling in the same direction.

“The sedan had two occupants, the driver and a passenger,” said DEMS media liaison officer Eric Maloka.

“The passenger sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on the scene by paramedics,” Maloka confirmed.

The driver sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department.
