A bee in your bonnet

A light moment in amidst the doom and gloom.

“Gerrit”, Germiston South writes:

Amidst all the doom and gloom reports we are used to reading, including the wars, the terrorism, the poverty, the strife and government’s failure to deliver – is there perhaps space in your pages for a little humour?

In Germiston, recently, I observed a florist’s delivery van with the following words printed across the side panels: “BEE complaint”.

These words were printed in prominently large lettering.

And at a quick glace I assumed this meant “Black Economic Empowerment”, a natural assumption I thought?

It was not until I noticed the nuance in the catchphrase, found at the bottom of the side panel, and in noticeably smaller lettering, which read: “We only harvest blooms after pollination”.

If you didn’t already know, bees (BEEs) pollinate flowers.

I found this clever little play on words rather humorous, I thought I had to share it.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
