Resident wants school to adhere to water restrictions

Resident upset about local school watering its soccer field.

Marius Claassen-Labuschagne, Germiston, writes:

This letter is addressed to the headmaster or mistress at St Catherine’s School.

I just would like to enquire if you have a borehole?

We see that every day and night you are watering your soccer field on the corner of Park Lane West and Piercy Avenue.

As far as I know there are water restrictions in the metro regarding the watering of lawns/soccer fields and, in fact, your soccer field gets watered twice a day, early in the morning and late at night.

If you do not have a borehole please comply by not watering your soccer field.

Editor’s Note: Charmaine Burger, marketing manager at St Catherine’s School, said, “The school does have a borehole.

“We have, however, instructed our garden service not to use the water.”
