Tete Motaung:
"Supporting local will encourage people to start their own farming and gardening projects where they can sell to each other. This will filter into schools so they teach learners skills and encourage ideas on how to start businesses."
Educators of Sunnyridge Primary School from Primrose shared their opinions on supporting local produce.
They were asked how they think buying local produce will help restart the economy after the impact the global pandemic had on the economy.
Elsa Vink:
“Locally produced food is fresher and cheaper as the transporting costs would be less and more local people would have an income.”
Courtney Maduray:
“Supporting local produce initiatives would play a part in boosting the economy. Encouraging local green businesses and sustainable agriculture can reduce food insecurity in SA – an area of great concern. Let us create new opportunities and support green initiatives.”
Haseenah Cassim:
“Supporting local will have a positive impact on our country as it creates more jobs and fresh products for us to eat. It will also increase healthy habits among our people and people will learn new skills in the process.”
Hazel Smith:
“South Africa and its people can benefit most from buying local which will definitely boost our economy. Our local people have a lot to offer the rest of the world too.”
