Bronze for Leondale athlete

Leondale resident Phumie Makhabane completed the X-Dirt Triathlon and Duathlon Challenge that was held on March 2, at the Roodeplaat Dam, just outside Pretoria.

The local duathlete had a good race and finished the 2.5km run, 20km cycle and 5km run in a time of one hour, 37 minutes and seven seconds, to collect the bronze medal in the open women’s on-road duathlon division.

To compete in the X-Dirt Challenge, like Makhabane, multi-sport enthusiasts can still enter for the last two races of the competition, taking place at the Buffelspoort Dam on March 30 and Heron Banks Golf and River Estate, Vanderbijlpark, on April 6.
