Some of the traditional African games played by the senior citizens were Kgati, Diketo, Morabaraba, Ncuva, Dibeke, Jukskei, Kho-kho, Intonga and Driestokkies.
The stadium buzzed with energy as elders demonstrated skill, teamwork and cultural pride, proving that staying active is not just for the young.
Communities are encouraged to continue promoting active, healthy lifestyles for old people beyond the day’s festival.
Cathrine Mathebe, from Bophelong Fitness Club in Thembisa, enjoyed the recent event, citing it as a great opportunity for networking and sharing tips with other clubs.

The club is celebrating its nineth anniversary.
Mathebe mentioned that the event featured various activities, including soccer, athletics, and aerobics.
“We had different activities. Bophelong Fitness Club specifically participated in aerobics. Warmups are important before all the activities can get started,” said Mathebe.
The club has expanded to other communities, with a mission to promote healthy lifestyles. “We have opened branches in other communities. Our aim is to help communities adopt healthy lifestyle,” she added.
